Situated in a quiet lane in Kalymnos town and only a 10 minute walk to the local beach, the Villa Melina enables you to become part of the local lifestyle and culture during your stay.
The Villa was built nearly a hundred years ago by Vouvalis, a successful Kalymnian sponge merchant whose wealth also built the local hospital.
Vouvalis had travelled and knew that he wanted something different, which is why he shipped exotic African hardwoods and fine furniture all the way from England. Local legend tells the story of his imports arriving by a fleet of small boats into Kalymnos harbour and being carried to the site of the Villa on the backs of 500 donkeys.
Today, the wealth and opulence of the building remain. The architecture, fittings and fixtures of the house will transport you to a forgotten age of luxury and elegance.
The garden complements the house perfectly, large enough for a swimming pool, several terraces and an abundance of bougainvillea and other flowers. You can easily spend the whole day relaxing here, hidden in the plants, lost in a book with no cares in the world.
