Kalymnos is located in the South East Aegean Sea, in the north of Kos.

It is the fourth island in length and the third in population in the Dodecanese. Its surface covers 109,67 sq.kms whereas the length of its beaches reaches the 96 kms. Also, the islands of Pserimos, Telendos, Kalolimnos, Plati as well as many other uninhabited small rocky islands belong to the municipality of Kalymnos.

Kalymnos has always been a marine island, primarily, so its history, local tradition and civilization are directly related to the sea. The main occupation of the inhabitants has been sponge diving for many years, that's why Kalymnos has been known as the sponge divers' island.

The original- ancient name of the island was Kalydna. After arriving at the island, you have a lot of options:

 - you can visit the places where tradition and ancient history are exhibited, like the archeological museum with the rich collection of exhibits, the maritime museum, the traditional house and the castles of Hora and Chrysoheria as well as Valsamidi's marine museum in Vlyhathia.

 - You can taste the special traditional seafood at the taverns of the island.

 - You can take up new sports like rock climbing at the unique mountains of the island or diving to see the rich underwater scenery and

shipwrecks. We have to stress that Kalymnos is considered one of the best climbing grounds internationally.

 - You can visit the monastery of Agios Savvas, known for his miracles.

 - You can dive and swim in the deep blue and crystal clear sea at the beaches surrounding the island.
